BALTIMORE – Coming fresh off from winning the MD JUCO Conference championship game against Allegany College 56-48, the Lady Panthers of Baltimore City Community College (20-0; 10-0 MD JUCO Conference) are ready to extend their undefeated season when they play the Lady Seahawks of Hagerstown Community College (11-14; 4-6 MD JUCO Conference) in the opening round of the Region XX Tournament.  Game time is set for 5 p.m.

This will be the second time this season the two teams meet.  The first meeting found the Lady Panthers on the winning end in convincing fashion with Hagerstown losing the game by 42 points, 89-47.  A balance attack of defense and offense lead to three players scoring in double figures.

MD JUCO Conference Tournament MVP Ciarra Lucas (Old Mill/Baltimore, MD) ended the game four rebounds shy of a double-double with a game high 27 points, six rebounds, three assists and five steals.

Sophomore forward Ashley Jones (Old Mill, Baltimore, MD) recorded her first double-double of the season finishing the game with 15 points, 15 rebounds and two steals.

The final NJCAA Women’s Division II poll has BCCC ranked for the first time as Panthers listed at number 16 in the country surpassing then number 18 Allegany.  One of the team successes is having a sound defense and high scoring offense.

Tickets for the tournament are $5 each day for adults and $3.00 for children or $10 for a tournament pass.  Tournament programs, t-shirts and concessions will be on sale during the event.

The BCCC Community can listen to the Lady Panthers take on Hagerstown LIVE on www.sfmsports.net with play by play announcer Rob Long.  You can hear Long everyday of the week from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Fox 1370am Sports Radio.
