BALTIMORE, Md.
– The 3rd Annual Increase the Peace All-Star Basketball Game hosted by the Baltimore City Community College Athletics Department and BCCC alum Jimmy Price this past Saturday was a huge success. Over 700 fans packed into BCCC's Physical Education Center to watch the three all-star games that were played.

Price, a 1992 BCCC graduate and former Red Devil's basketball standout, was extremely pleased with the way the event turned out. “The event went very well, especially since everyone was able to come together without any problems or violence”, Price said. “The intimate atmosphere provided by BCCC's gym definitely set this year's event from ones in years past”.

“The event was one of the most exciting I have seen in my time here at BCCC”, said Athletics Director Tara A. Owens. “Partnering with Jimmy was an enormous gain for BCCC athletics and the college as a whole. He returned to showcase his alma mater and we applaud him for that.”

In the high school girls all-star game, Akilah Bethel (Holy Cross HS) scored a game-high 19 points, while Michelle Wright (Dunbar HS) had 13 points as each earned MVP honors. On the boys' side, Kerron Deshilds (Towson Catholic HS) and Akil Carr (St. Francis Academy) led their teams with 30 and 28 points, respectively.

The main event of the night was the all-star game featuring local stars and professional players. The game turned into an overtime affair with the Samos All-Stars defeating Team Chaos 157-149. Jamar Young led the Samos All-Stars with 19 points, but San Antonio Spurs' signee Gary Neal scored a game-high 28 points in the losing effort. Sacramento Kings guard-forward Donte Green added 21 points for Team Chaos.

Owens added, “The success of this event clearly shows the potential we have in marketing BCCC athletics. It has created a great opportunity for exposure because we want Baltimore City residents in our gymnasium and on our campus. Our staff also did an excellent job in the planning and execution of this event, showing that we can handle more events of this caliber.”
