BALTIMORE, Md. – In the first two weeks of the 2011 season, the Baltimore City Community College baseball team has compiled a 1-7 overall record.
The Panther's first win of the season came in the form of a 3-2 victory over Jamestown Community College behind the pitching of Marcus Smith (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler HS) on Saturday, March 12 in game one of the doubleheader. Smith allowed two earned runs and walked three batters while striking out four in a seven-inning complete game. Two of BCCC's three runs came on a two-RBI double by Devon Jones (Baltimore, Md./Forrest Parks HS) in the fourth inning.
The Panthers' upcoming home schedule includes games against Roxbury Community College (DH) at 2 p.m. on March 17 and Erie Community College and Hudson Valley Community College at noon and 3:30 p.m., respectively, on March 26. The Roxbury doubleheader will be played at Joe Cannon Stadium, while the latter games are scheduled to be played at Druid Hill Park Field #5.
