Baseball Round –Up Week 5

Jose Garcia had a team-high five stolen bases.

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College baseball team won the only game it played during the fifth week of the 2011 season. The Panthers (5-14) posted a 12-4 win at Prince George's Community College Thursday.

The Panthers were hot offensively as they pounded out 18 hits as a team, scored 12 runs and stole a season-high 18 bases. Rangel Betances (La Vega, Dominican Republic) went 4-for-5 with three doubles, one run, one RBI and one stolen base.  Both Jose Garcia (Trenton, N.J.) and Willy Garcia (La Vega, Dominican Republic) had three hits in five at-bats. Jose led the team with five stolen bases and scored twice with one RBI. Willy tallied two doubles, two runs, drove in two runs and stole one base.

The Panthers host Anne Arundel CC at 3 p.m. on April 18 then hit the road to take on Mercer County CC at 3 p.m. on April 19 and CCBC-Dundalk at 1 p.m. on April 21.
