Baltimore City Community College invites applicants for internship positions in Athletic Administration beginning each semester. Students must be willing to work evening and weekends. Students will be exposed and receive experience in the following areas in NJCAA Division II athletics.
Business Administration: (1 position)
RESPONSIBLITIES: Include but are not limited to: assisting in monitoring the administration of the department’s budget; maintenance of accounts; assisting in or directing purchasing transactions and accounting materials; assisting in preparing statistical and various reports; assisting in administering departmental policies and procedures; resolving discrepancies with vendors or service providers; operating standard office automated equipment; and performing other related duties as required. Reports to the athletic director. (20 hrs. weekly)
Compliance & Academic Support: (3 positions)
RESPONSIBLITIES: Assist in processing, certifying, and recording all NJCAA required activities and information relating to the recruitment of student-athletes (i.e. graduation rates, LOIs, scholarships, official visits); assist in the certification process for all first year and continuing student-athletes; educate, monitor and interpret all NJCAA and Conference rules and regulations for the College; review and analyze the impact of new legislation on the program with recommendations; investigate and report any NJCAA and Conference violations to the College; assist in conducting educational sessions on NJCAA rules and regulations for the student-athletes, coaches and staff; monitor and record practice and play sessions, and study hall, and other assigned duties. Reports to the assistant athletic director. (20 hrs. weekly)
Facility and Equipment: (1 positions)
RESPONSIBLITIES: Assist with scheduling all athletic facilities, game management for volleyball, basketball and baseball. Monitors the Fitness enter during open gym times. Inventories athletic equipment and handles disbursement of team gear. Assists in all other aspects of the management of facilities and operations for the athletics department. Reports to the athletic director. (20 hrs. weekly)
Sports Information: (2 positions)
RESPONSIBLITIES: Assist with the broadcast production of volleyball, basketball, and baseball events. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Primary focus will be to produce Livestat and press releases for the new athletic department website www.bcccpanthers.com. In addition, responsibilities may include production of online recruiting videos for athletes. Additional production assignments and job responsibilities will also be assigned. Candidates should have the ability, knowledge and expertise to write, produce, edit and post video features for website and television. Reports to the sports information director. (20 hrs. weekly)
Radio Personality: (2 positions)
RESPONSIBLITIES: Assist with the broadcast production of volleyball, basketball, and baseball events. Candidates must possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Primary focus is to provide play-by-play and color analysis for athletic events. Will produce audio and video content for the official athletic department website www.bcccpanthers.com. In addition, these individuals will be responsible for producing recruiting videos, video content for television shows and in venue video displays. Additional production assignments and job responsibilities will also be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Must a junior or senior level student with upper level course related exposure. Graduates that are looking for additional experience are encouraged to apply.
Experience:
Must have a minimum of 3.0 in major related classes.
Skills:
Establish effective working relationships; and make clear oral and written presentations. Knowledge of management practices and procedures. Must be familiar with Microsoft Word & EXCEL.
