The Lady Panthers return home to protect their undefeated season against ASA

BALTIMORE – Baltimore City Community College Lady Panthers (16-0; 11-0 MD JUCO Conference) will put its season long 16 game wining streak on the line, when they play host to ASA (9-4) on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Athletic Center.

“This game will be a dog fight,” said head coach Renard Smith.  “This team is good with a balanced attack.”  “They already beat Prince George's Community College 79-59 which is one of our top teams in the conference behind us and Allegany College.”  “It's going to be a good game.”

The Lady Panthers are off to the program's best start in years since the days of Baltimore City Community College's Hall of Fame coach John Rhames.  BCCC is nationally ranked in a number of categories which the most prestigious is the overall number one ranking in team defense (42 points/game).

Freshman Denisha Haywood (Forest Park/Baltimore, MD) leads the defensive attack for the Lady Panthers as she sits at number one in the NJCAA individual blocks with 7.56 per game.   Balancing out the defensive pressure are the two starting guards sophomore All-American Charda Lomax (Frederick Douglass/Baltimore, MD) who is ranked number one in steals with 5.2 per game and freshman Taniara McClurkin (St. Frances/Baltimore, MD) ranked at number two with 5.1 steals per game.

Following the women's game, the Panthers (10-11; 5-7 MD JUCO Conference) men's basketball team will host conference rival Frederick Community College (12-8; 8-4 MD JUCO Conference) at 5 p.m. in the Athletic Center.
