Lady Panthers take on Garrett College in the semifinal round of the MD JUCO Tournament

Largo, MD – Head coach Renard Smith and the Lady Panthers (18-0; 11-0 MD JUCO Conference) are back on the court to protect their undefeated season to face Garrett College (9-7; 5-4 MD JUCO Conference) in the semifinal round of the MD JUCO Conference Tournament.  Game time is set for 3 p.m. 

This will be the second time this season the two teams meet.  The first meeting found the Lady Panthers on the winning end with Garrett going toe to toe with BCCC.  However, showcasing a strong performance from freshman guard Ciarra Lucas (Old Mill/Baltimore, MD) led all scorers with a season high 31 points that helped guide her Lady Panthers to a 67-54 victory.

Sophomore guard and NJCAA All-American Charda Lomax (Frederick Douglass/Baltimore, MD) finished the game with four points, eight rebounds, eight assists and eight steals followed by sophomore forward Ashley Jones (Old Mill/Baltimore, MD) ending the game with four points and 13 rebounds. 

Both women and men will have semi-finals on Saturday, with the women at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and the men at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.  The men's championship will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday and the women's final to be held at 3 p.m.

Tickets for the tournament are $10 each day or $25 for a tournament pass.  Tournament programs, t-shirts and concessions will be on sale during the event.
