Panthers defeated CSM 105-80 in the quarterfinal round of the Region XX Tournament

Freshman forward Theodore West finished the game with a season high 17 points.

Hagerstown, MD –Head coach Terry Maczko and the BCCC Panthers (17-11; 7-7 MD JUCO Conference) continue their hot streak by defeating the College of Southern MD in the first round of the MD JUCO Conference Tournament and now in the quarterfinal round of the Region XX Tournament.  The Panthers won in convincing fashion 105-80.

BCCC is clearly the hottest team in the tournament that no one wants to play.  From the start of the game, the frustration mounted on the faces of College of Southern MD and the Panthers were able to take advantage and cruise to a 20 point lead at the half, 50-30.

Coming out the second half, the Panthers continued their defensive pressure and shot a season high 75% from the three-point line ending at 9 for 12.  Guards Trevor Howze (Patterson/Baltimore, MD) and Zafir Williams (Vaux/Philadelphia, PA) were both perfect shooting three point shots.

Leading the team in scoring was sophomore forward and NJCAA All-American John Williams (Mervo/Baltimore, MD) finishing the game with his 17th double-double of the season ending with 18 points, 10 rebounds and two steals.  Freshman forward Theodore West (Kensington/Baltimore, MD) recorded a personal best 17 points in the game.

Next game for the Panthers will be the Community College of Beaver County (15-4) in the semifinal round of the tournament.  This will be the second meeting from the two teams.  BCCC lost to Beaver County 95-90 during the regular season in a non-conference matchup.  In a losing effort sophomore and NJCAA All-American John Williams (Mervo/Baltimore, MD) finished with a game high 25 points.
