Johnson Leads Garrett to 3-0 over BCCC Volleyball

MCHENRY, Md. – Jalesa Johnson had team-highs eight kills and seven digs to lead the Garrett College volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Baltimore City Community College on Saturday night at the Garrett Gymnasium. The Lakers won the match 25-13, 25-22, 25-17.

Garrett took the first set with ease, but BCCC came out fighting in the second set. The Lady Panthers took a 3-2 lead after a service error by Kaylee Sisler and had a four-point advantage (20-16) after an attack error by Johnson.

But Garrett rallied behind the serves of Courtney Humberson to take a 24-21 lead. BCCC scored on an attack error by Jessica Yoder, but a Lady Panther miscue sealed the win for the Lakers.

The Lakers took the third set to win the match.

Yoder led all players with 21 assists and added five service aces. Alice Ayiba had six kills and 2.5 blocks, while hitting .308.

Shray Roberts (Baltimore, Md.) had a career-high eight kills to lead the Lady Panthers. She added two assists and one solo block. Sharay Cross (Baltimore, Md.) posted career-highs in kills (three) and aces (three) and matched her season-best with five digs.

The Lady Panthers return to the BCCC P.E. Center for their final home match of the season on Thursday. They host Anne Arundel Community College at 6 p.m.
