FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick Community College volleyball team posted a 3-0 win over Baltimore City Community College on Tuesday evening at the FCC Cougar Dome. The Cougars won 25-9, 25-19, 25-19.
FCC (1-13) won the first set easily, but BCCC (0-9) put up a tough fight in the last two sets. Tied at 19-all, the Cougars took the lead on an attack error by Karinda Felton (Baltimore, Md.). They went on to score six straight points to take the set.
In set 3, the Lady Panthers overcame a 5-0 deficit at the beginning of the set to get within four, 20-16, after a service error by Hannah Robold. But BCCC only managed three more points for the rest of the set, giving FCC its first win of the season.
Kelsey Young hit .364 and led all players with six kills and seven digs for FCC. Stacie Lozelle tallied a match-high 14 assists and added five kills, five aces and four digs. Robold had a match-high seven aces.
For the Lady Panthers, Felton had a team-best four kills. Sharay Cross (Baltimore, Md.) totaled five digs, four assists, three kills and two aces.
BCCC continues its road swing with a 6 p.m. matchup at Cecil College in Elkton, Md. on Friday.
