The game was close for most of the first half with BCCC (2-1) leading by just nine points after a bucket by Belt with 29 seconds left in the opening period. But the Panthers shot 47.6 percent (20-of-42) from the field in the second half. They were also very accurate from 3-point range (54.5 percent; 6-of-11) and the charity stripe (72.7 percent; 8-of-11).

The Panthers led by as many as 29 points after a trey ball from sophomore guard Craig Ryan (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll HS) at the 11:28 mark.

Germantown (1-2) got within 19 (91-72) after a layup by Davon Potter with 3:20 left, but the damage had already been done and the Gryphons could get no closer. Four consecutive free throws by sophomore guard Micah Fraction (Silver Spring, Md./Montrose Christian HS) put the Panthers over the century mark and sealed the win.

Keenan Thompkins led Germantown with 11 points while David Abraham added 10 points and six rebounds.

Fraction contributed 19 points and seven assists and Weaver had seven points and five rebounds for the Panthers. Sophomore guard Eric Barksdale (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) had eight points and a game-high three steals and freshman guard Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Ben Franklin HS) added nine points and three boards.

The Panthers return to action on Saturday when they host Manor College at 3 p.m.
