BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College men's and women's basketball teams open the 2010-11 season this week. The men begin play on Friday at 6 p.m. when they take on Genesee Community College in the Community College of Beaver County Tournament in Monaca, Pa. The women open their season on Wednesday at CCBC-Dundalk in a 6 p.m. matchup.
The men's team has its home opener on Wednesday, November 10, at 7:30 p.m. when they host Montgomery College-Germantown. The women take on Harcum College this Saturday at 2 p.m. for their first home game of the season.
Head men's coach Terry Maczko returns for his fifth season at BCCC. Last year, Maczko and his assistants Anthony Smith and Patrick Young led the Panthers to the Maryland JUCO Conference championship title and an appearance in the championship game of the Region XX Tournament.
The women's program will have an entirely new look this season with a new coaching staff and all new players. Head coach Cheneice Arthur and assistant Deanna Price will direct the program this year. Arthur, a Baltimore native, graduated in 2008 with a bachelor's in computer science from Elizabeth City State University in Elizabeth City, N.C. She played four years of basketball at ECSU and was an assistant coach at Mundy's Mill High School in Jonesboro, Ga. during the 2008-09 school year.
Price, a 2007 graduate of ESCU, was an assistant coach at Don Brosco Cristo Rey High School in Takoma Park, Md. during the 2007-08 season and helped the Wolfpack to their first-ever divisional championship title.
