MCHENRY, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team extended its winning streak to six games with an 81-71 Maryland JUCO conference win over Garrett College on Monday night at the GC Gymnasium. The Panthers improved to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while Garret fell to 3-2, 0-2.

Sophomore guard Micah Fraction (Silver Spring, Md./Montrose Christian) led the Panthers in scoring for the third straight time with 27 points on 9-of-18 shooting from the floor and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line. He also had six assists, four rebounds and three steals in 26 minutes.

The game went back and forth in the first half and there were six ties and eight lead changes. A pair of free throws by sophomore guard Eric Barksdale (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) put BCCC up one, 38-37 at halftime.

It was just as close in the second half. The Panthers took a 10-point (73-63) lead after a layup by Fraction with 4:52 left in the game. Garrett rallied back to get within four, 73-69, with 1:39 left, but BCCC kicked up both its offense and defense for the win.

Freshman guard Brandon Belt (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) hit a clutch 3-pointer with 1:01 remaining. Rodney Clark hit a jumper with 36 seconds left to cut the Panthers' lead to six (77-71), but a pair of free throws by Fraction and a turnover by Clark just about sealed the win for BCCC. Fraction got to the line once more, with 26 seconds left, and made good on two shots to end the game.

Clark led Garrett with 21 points and added three rebounds and three assists. Callum Jenkins and Jordan Gibson each had 11 points and Fran Holloway grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Belt finished with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the field, including 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Barksdale added 14 points and four assists in 20 minutes.

The Panthers are off until December 1 when they host Chesapeake College at 7 p.m.
