BCCC Men Fall in OT of Jamestown CC Championship

Kendal Williams was one of two Panther players named to the JCC All-Tournament Team.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Baltimore City Community men's basketball team fell 104-95 to Jamestown Community College in overtime in the championship game of the JCC Tournament on Sunday.

Micah Fraction (Silver Spring, Md./Montrose Christian) led the way with 35 points while Kendal Williams (Dover, Del.) added 23.  Both Fraction and Williams were named to the All-Tournament team.

BCCC (9-3) struggled on the boards against the much bigger Jayhawks throughout the game. After trailing by 14 points with eight minutes to go, the Panthers rallied and took a two-point lead, 88-86, with 23 seconds left in regulation on a 3-pointer by Brandon Belt (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS).

Jamestown missed a jumper on the other end, but Panther forward Alex Weaver (Washington, D.C./Archbishop Carroll HS) was called for a foul on the ensuing rebound.  The Jayhawks' Andrew Joseph went to the line and hit both free throws to force the extra period.

After trading baskets in overtime, Zieyik Estime hit a 3-pointer to put Jamestown up by five and give the Jayhawks the lead for good. Estime led JCC with 34 points in the game and was named MVP of the tournament.

On Saturday, BCCC took a 94-86 win over Westmoreland County Community College. Williams led the Panthers with 25 points.

The Panthers host the annual Ben Williams Classic this weekend. They take on Hood College (JV) at 8 p.m. on Friday, the Community College of Philadelphia at 8 p.m. on Saturday and Tidewater Community College at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
