BALTIMORE, Md. – Morgan Souchak had a double-double of 11 assists and 11 service aces and hit .600 to lead the Community College of Baltimore County-Essex volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Baltimore City Community College on Thursday evening at the BCCC P.E. Center. The Knights took the match 25-16, 25-14, 25-12.
Despite the loss, the Lady Panthers put up a valiant fight. They had season-highs in points scored in a set (16), kills (10), aces (six) and total blocks (three). But BCCC was hampered by its 28 reception errors.
In the first set, the Lady Panthers led 14-10 after an attack error by Desiree Moore, but Kasha Gamble (Baltimore, Md.) followed with a service error to cut BCCC's lead to three. An ace by Souchak gave the Knights a lead they would maintain for the remainder of the set.
BCCC got off to a fast start in the second set, but lost momentum in Set 3, letting the Knights score nine straight points to start the set.
Moore had six kills, three aces and two digs for Essex, while Anna DiGennaro hit .444 with six digs, five kills and five aces.
For BCCC, Shray Roberts (Baltimore, Md.) tallied career-highs of five kills and two block assists and added a team-high four digs. Gamble also had a career night with three aces and two total blocks.
The Lady Panthers are off until Tuesday when they host CCBC-Catonsville at 6 p.m.
