Fraction, Belt Lead Panthers to 105-97 Win Over Montgomery College-Rockville

BALTIMORE, Md.Micah Fraction (Silver Spring, Md./Montrose Christian) scored a career-high 36 points, while teammate Brandon Belt (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) also had a career night with 29 points in the 105-97 Maryland JUCO Conference win over Montgomery College-Rockville on Wednesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.

Fraction was 9-of-16 from the field and 18-of-20 from the free-throw line with a game-high seven assists. Belt connected on 12 of his 18 field goal attempts and was 3-of-5 from 3-point range.

Both teams kept things close for most of the first half. The Panthers (13-5, 6-2 MD JUCO) led by eight, 44-36, after a jumper by Fraction with 3:14 left in the opening period. But Rockville (10-7, 2-6 MD JUCO) cut BCCC's lead to two, 53-51, after a bucket by Erick Satchell at the 34 second mark. Belt knocked down a trey with four seconds left in the half to put BCCC up 56-51.

In the second half, the Panthers led by as many as 16 points (86-70) after a jumper by Fraction with 6:44 left in the game. A pair of free throws by Fraction with 10 seconds left ended the scoring for the game.

Satchell led the Knights with 20 points and had six rebounds. Bobby Bazelais added 17 points, while Ennis Whatley had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Emmanuel Ogunfolu had 15 points and four blocks.

Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished with 12 points and three assists for BCCC. Eric Barksdale (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) added 14 points, two assists and two steals off the bench.

The Panthers take on Hagerstown Community College in a road game at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
