BCCC Routs MC-Germantown 117-84

GERMANTOWN, Md.Micah Fraction (Silver Spring, Md./Montrose Christian) scored a game-high 41 points to lead four Baltimore City Community College men's basketball players in double figures as the Panthers posted a 117-84 Maryland JUCO Conference win over Montgomery College-Germantown on Friday night at the MC-G Gymnasium.

Fraction was 14-of-22 from the floor for the game, including 5-of-8 from 3-point range. He added six assists, four steals and three rebounds in 24 minutes.

BCCC improved to 16-6 overall and 9-3 in conference play with the win, while Germantown fell to 4-14 and 2-10.

The Panthers jumped out to a quick lead and were up by 14, 27-13, after a layup by Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 12:22 left in the first half. But the Gryphons went on an 11-2 run to get within five, 29-24, on a layup by Keenan Thompkins with 7:35 left in the opening period.

Germantown managed just 13 more points in the half and went into halftime down 53-37.

It was all BCCC in the second half as the Panthers outscored the Gryphons 64-47, forced 15 turnovers that led to 21 points and had 10 steals. A layup by Brandon Belt (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) with 7:07 left in the game gave the Panthers their largest lead of the game, 103-64 (39 points).

For Germantown, Unegbu Agugua led the way with 29 points. Tompkins had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds and Arthur Talley had 17 points and nine rebounds.

BCCC got 52 points from its bench. Bey-Brown had 21 points on 10-of-13 shooting from the field, while Kendal Williams (Dover, Del.) had 17 points and Sharahd Conley (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) added 12. Conley was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and went 4-for-6 from the charity stripe. Michael Henry (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills HS) grabbed a team-high 10 boards.

The Panthers host the College of Southern Maryland for Sophomore Night at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Sophomores Eric Barksdale (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS), Craig Ryan (Baltimore, Md./John Carroll HS), Fraction and Henry will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.
