Team Effort Leads Panthers Past CCBC-Dundalk, 104-87

BALTIMORE, Md.Micah Fraction (Silver Spring, Md./Montrose Christian) had a double-double of 32 points and 10 rebounds to lead five Baltimore City Community College men's basketball players in double-figure scoring in a 104-87 win over CCBC-Dundalk at the BCCC P.E. Center on Saturday afternoon.

BCCC improved to 12-5 overall and 5-2 in the Maryland JUCO Conference with the win, while Dundalk fell to 4-5, 4-4.

Also scoring in double figures for the Panthers were Kenny Bey-Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 19 points, Eric Barksdale (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) with 18, Brandon Belt (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) with 16 and Michael Henry (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills HS) with a double-double of 11 points and a game-high 24 rebounds.

The Panthers led for the entire game, but the Lions tied the game at 31-all after a 3-pointer by Alfonzo Hawkins with 5:59 left in the first half. But Belt answered on the other end with a bucket at the 4:55 mark and BCCC took a 44-36 lead into halftime.

In the second half, BCCC led by as many as 23 points, 65-42, after a layup by Alex Weaver (Washington, D.C./Archbishop Carroll HS) with 13:54 left in the game. The closest Dundalk could get after that was 11 (92-81).

Hawkins recorded a game-high 36 points and had 16 rebounds for Dundalk. Timothy Cheeks had 25 points, while Xavier Chargois and Ron Sharpe had 15 and 11 points, respectively.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday when they host Montgomery College-Rockville at 7:30 p.m.
