The Panthers (5-3, 2-2 MD JUCO) have now lost six straight regular-season games to the Hawks (9-1, 4-0), dating back to the 2006-07 season.

The game, played in front of 704 fans, was high-intensity and action-packed from beginning to end.

In just the first four seconds of the game, BCCC was already on the board. Carlos Smith (Baltimore, Md./Forest Park HS) tipped the ball to Zafir Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Vaux HS) to start the game. Williams raced down the court for a fast-break layup to put the Panthers up 2-0 with 19:56 left in the first half.

The teams traded buckets for most of the opening period and Hagerstown went into halftime with a 49-41 lead.

The Hawks turned it up in the second half and led by 14, 64-50, with 14:55 left in the game after a layup by Alister Chisholm. Not to be outdone, though, the Panthers rallied and got within two, 89-87 with 1:24 left in the game. But back-to-back Panther turnovers killed their momentum.

BCCC committed 33 turnovers which led to 34 points for Hagerstown. The Hawks had 26 giveaways of their own, but BCCC was only able to score 20 points off of them. Hagerstown also beat the Panthers at the free throw line, making 10 more (31-of-42) than BCCC attempted (16-of-21).

For Hagerstown, Tione Womack had 18 points. Antonio Jenifer had 16 points, eight rebounds and a game-high four blocks, while Raymar Watson added 15 points and eight boards. Chisolm and Jerel Carter also scored in double figures with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Williams and Donte Stuckey (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook HS) each had 18 points and three rebounds for the Panthers. Theo West (Philadelphia, Pa./Kensington HS) finished with 17 points and seven rebounds and Xavier Drake (Baltimore, Md./Millford Mill) had 11 points and three boards. Smith and Warren Wright (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern HS) each contributed eight points and two blocks.

The Panthers return to action on Wednesday when they host Montgomery College-Germantown at 7 p.m.
