Vasco, Chesson Help Allegany College to an 87-61 Win over BCCC Men

Brandon Belt was one of two Panthers to score in double figures against Allegany.

CUMBERLAND, Md. – Troy Vasco was a perfect 11-for-11 from the field for a game-high 24 points, while teammate Marcel Chesson added 20 points to help the Allegany College of Maryland men's basketball team to an 87-61 win over Baltimore City Community College on Wednesday night at the Bob Kirk Arena.

Chesson was 7-of-9 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

BCCC (17-8, 10-5 MD JUCO) got on the board first on a 3-pointer by Micah Fraction (Silver Spring, Md./Montrose Christian) with 19:49 left in the first half. Back-to-back treys by Fraction and Brandon Belt (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) put the Panthers up 9-7, but a pair of free throws by Vasco tied the game at 9-all.

A jumper by Jay Burke with 16:47 left gave Allegany a lead it would hold for the rest of the game. The Trojans led by as many as 15, 40-25, in the opening period and took a 40-31 advantage into halftime.

The Panthers could get no closer than six points in the second half and were down by as many as 29 (81-52) after a layup by Vasco with 4:55 left in the game.

Burke also scored in double figures for Allegany as he finished with 16 points. He added nine rebounds and three assists in 32 minutes.

Fraction led BCCC with 16 points, while Belt added 12.

The Panthers host Prince George's Community College at noon on Saturday.
