Fraction, Williams Lead Panthers Over Southern Maryland 89-81

BALTIMORE, Md.Micah Fraction (Silver Spring, Md./Montrose Christian) and Kendal Williams (Dover, Del.) combined for 54 of Baltimore City Community College's 89 points in an 89-81 Maryland JUCO Conference win over the College of Southern Maryland on Wednesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.

Fraction tallied a game-high 31 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the field and added seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in 38 minutes. Williams had 23 points, going 7-of-15 from the floor, including 3-for-3 from 3-point range and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line.

BCCC (17-6, 10-3 MDJUCO) jumped out to 15-point lead, 36-21, with 5:50 left in the first half after back-to-back shots by Williams. But CSM (2-16, 2-11 MDJUCO) got within three (46-43) right before halftime.

The second half remained close until the Panthers opened a double-digit lead. A layup by Williams with 7:30 left in the game gave BCCC an 80-63 advantage. However, the Hawks went on a 15-5 run during the next six minutes to get within five, 85-80. BCCC was able to hold off CSM down the stretch for the win.

Brain Dixon led CSM with 24 points, while Clenso Brannon had 15 points. Paul Wilson and Craig Gaylord contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Brandon Belt (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) finished with 10 points and five rebounds and Michael Henry (Owings Mills, Md./Owings Mills HS) grabbed a game-high 16 boards for BCCC.

The Panthers travel to CCBC-Essex for a 7 p.m. matchup on Friday.
