BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College volleyball team finished fourth of four teams in the inaugural Charm City Volleyball Tournament held at the BCCC P.E. Center on Saturday. Anne Arundel Community College went 3-1 to win the tournament title after defeating CCBC-Essex 2-0 in the championship game.
BCCC (0-6) lost in straight sets to Chesapeake College and Anne Arundel in the first two matches of the day. Against Essex, the Lady Panthers won the first set 26-24, but dropped the next two 25-21 and 15-8. In the consolation game against Chesapeake, BCCC tied the match at 1-1 after taking the second set 25-18. But the Lady Panthers fell 15-11 in the deciding set.
On the day, Danielle Standley (Baltimore, Md./Millford Mill Academy) tallied 13 kills and 2.5 total blocks. Rachael Griffith (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) had 30 assists, three digs and one block assist. Myrtice Jackson (Baltimore, Md./Mergenthaler HS) recorded 14 digs, 10 kills, two assists and two total blocks and Kourtney Anderson (Baltimore, Md./City College HS) had seven kills, seven assists, five digs and one block.
Rodchell Thompson (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn HS) had 17 digs, five kills, three assists and one total block, while Sheena Belton (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson-Westside HS) tallied 16 digs and 10 kills.
The Lady Panthers hit the road to take on Northern Virginia Community College at 7 p.m. in Alexandria, Va.
