Smith Leads Panthers to 93-81 Win Over MC-Rockville

ROCKVILLE, Md. Carlos Smith (Baltimore, Md./Forest Park HS) had a game-high 27 points and added nine rebounds to lead the Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team to a 93-81 win over Montgomery College-Rockville on Wednesday night at the MC-Rockville Gym. Smith was 9-of-16 from the field, including 1-1 from 3-point range, and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line.

The game started off close and remained that way through the entire first half. A basket by Karell Goines (Baltimore, Md./Patterson HS) with 13 seconds left in the first half put BCCC (14-6, 8-2 MD JUCO) by two, 38-36, heading into halftime.

Alim Stewart hit a pair of free throws at the 18:36 mark in the second half to put Rockville (7-11, 4-6 MD JUCO) up 40-38. A layup by Sean Farr (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) 14 seconds later tied the game at 40-all and then a basket by Donte Stuckey (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook HS) gave the Panthers a lead they would maintain for the rest of the game.

BCCC led by as many as 20 (71-51) after a bucket by Christian Diboko (Kinshasa, Congo) with 9:36 left in the second half. The closest Rockville could get after that was 10 points (85-75) after a 3-pointer by Erick Satchell.

Stewart led the Knights with 24 points and added seven rebounds. Satchell had 19 points and four boards. Chris Gee also scored in double figures with 13 points.

For BCCC, Farr poured in 22 points and 12 rebounds. Stuckey had 15 points and five assists and Goines just missed a double-double with 12 points and nine assists. Warren Wright (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern HS) had seven points and nine rebounds. Diboko also had nine rebounds.

The Panthers look to extend their four-game winning streak on Friday when they travel to Wye Mills, Md. to play Chesapeake College at 7 p.m. on Friday.
