Lady Panthers go 1-3 in Hagerstown Tournament

Rachael Griffith led the Lady Panthers in assists on both days of the Hagerstown Tournament.
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College Women's Volleyball team went 1-3 in the Hagerstown Community College Tournament this past weekend in Hagerstown, Md.

The Lady Panthers, who are now 4-15 on the season, introduced a new player in hitter Iman Scott  (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown), who along with some fellow teammates made a huge impact on Day 1 of the tournament.

In the first game of the day, the Lady Panthers faced off against Frederick Community College, falling in three straight sets (25-12, 25-20, 25-12). However, the resilient team came back with a strong effort against CCBC-Catonsville, winning 3-1 (25-16, 25-18, 19-25, 25-17).

For Day 1, Jamira Wilson (Baltimore, Md./Southside Academy) led the team with 16 kills and recorded 11 digs and one ace. Kourtney Anderson (Baltimore, Md./City College) had 11 kills, seven digs, two aces and one block assist.

Rachael Griffith (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) tallied a season-high 37 assists and had five digs, one kill and one ace. Newcomer, Scott contributed with nine kills, six digs, four aces, four assists, one block and one block assist.

Danielle Standley (Baltimore, Md./Milford Mill Academy) chipped in with nine kills, 2.5 blocks, one assist and one dig. Rodchell Thompson (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn HS) and Jaizmeine Ramirez (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn HS) had 15 and 14 digs respectively.

On the second day of the tournament, BCCC went 0-2, falling 3-1 (17-25, 28-26, 17-25, 22-25) to Harford Community College and losing in straight sets (25-14, 25-7, 25-13) to Allegany College of Maryland.

Anderson ended the day with 13 kills, 11 digs, two aces and one assist while Scott racked up 15 kills, two digs, two block assists and one block. Wilson compiled six kills, six digs, five aces and one block.

For the second straight day, Griffith dished out a team-high 37 assists along with eight digs, three aces, one total block and one kill.

Standley amassed nine kills, 2.5 blocks, two digs, one assist and one ace. Thompson finished with nine digs, two kills and two assists.

Next, the Lady Panthers will host Allegany College of Maryland on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. match.
