Kourtney Anderson (Baltimore, Md./City College) had a team-best 11 kills as the Baltimore City Community College women's volleyball team fell 3-2 to Harford Community College on Friday in the Region XX Championship game. The Fighting Owls won the match 24-26, 25-17, 25-13, 25-27, 15-5.
“The girls did such a great job, especially the defense,” head coach
Amy Manougian said. “They played with such heart and fought for every point they played. Even though we lost, it was a great representation of where the program has come in the last three years. I am very proud of the way they played and although it's bittersweet for the season to end on a loss, they too, should feel very proud of all their efforts. “
The Lady Panthers (5-20) came out hot and won the first set, but fell in the next two sets. They evened the score at two sets apiece after winning set four 27-25, but Harford (17-7) pulled out the win the final set to take the match and advance to the District N Tournament in Park Hills, Missouri on Nov. 3.
Freshman
Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md.) hit a team-high .230 with eight kills, four digs and 2.5 blocks.
Rachel Griffith (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) had her ninth straight game with double-digit assists with 25. She added 10 digs and one service ace.
Jamira Wilson (Baltimore, Md./Southside Academy) tallied seven digs, six kills and five aces.
Rodchell Thompson (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn HS) added 12 digs.
