Farr Leads BCCC to 82-76 Victory over Roxbury CC

BALTIMORE, Md. – Sean Farr (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) scored a season- and game-high 25 points to lead the Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team to an 82-76 win over Roxbury Community College on Sunday afternoon in the 2012 Ben Williams Classic. Farr added five rebounds and three assists in 37 minutes of play.
 
RCC (10-1) scored the first six points of the game before BCCC (11-3) got going offensively. The Panthers returned to form after the sluggish start and scored on a layup by Will Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./Towson) at the 18:14 mark, which sparked a 24-8 run that ended with a Farr layup with 10:33 remaining in the opening half, giving the Panthers a 24-14 lead.
 
BCCC finished the half on a 22-14 run to take a commanding 46-28 lead into the break.
 
The Panthers continued their scoring barrage and increased the lead to 22 points (52-30). Nationally ranked (Division III) RCC made a comeback, however, and got within nine, 56-47, after a jumper by Kristopher Cook with 12:42 left in the game.
 
The game was close the rest of the way and the Tigers cut their deficit to three, 77-74, after Jason Sergenton split a pair of free throws with 47 seconds remaining. The Panthers held on for the win by going 3-of-4 from the charity stripe where they shot 80 percent (16-of-20) for the game.
 
Gabriel Fumudoh led RCC with 17 points and nine rebounds. Tyrus Weaver had 15 points and Asim Beazer finished with 14 points, eight boards and seven steals. Paul Becklens ended the game with 13 points, five assists and three rebounds.
 
For BCCC, Kendal Williams (Dover, Del./Dover HS) was a perfect 7-of-7 from the field finishing with 17 points, four assists and three rebounds. Justin Kuntz (Baltimore, Md./Glen Burnie HS) had 12 points, six boards, four assists and two blocks. Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Monroe) finished with 11 points, seven assists, six rebounds, three steals and one block.
 
BCCC travels to the Sunshine State to play at Broward Community College in Ft. Lauderdale at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Then on Thursday, the Panthers take on Miami-Dade CC in a 7 p.m. matchup.
