Panthers Make Easy Work of Frederick CC with 117-59 Win

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team easily defeated Frederick Community College 117-59 on Wednesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center. BCCC improved to 16-8 overall and 10-4 in the Maryland JUCO Conference with the win.

The Panthers led for the entire game, which they started with an 8-0 run that was capped by a layup by Sean Farr (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) with 18:44 left in the first half. BCCC increased the lead to 26, 34-8, after a layup by Warren Wright (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern HS) at the 9:57 mark.

The onslaught continued for the remainder of the half and the Panthers went into halftime with a 40-point lead (61-21).

It was all BCCC in the second half, as the Panthers scored almost as many points in the second period (56) as Frederick (7-16, 3-10 MD JUCO) scored all game (59). The Panthers led by as many as 61 points in the second half.

Armando Miller and Scott Johnson accounted for over half of Frederick's points, scoring 19 and 17 points, respectively. Jeremy Veres added nine points and a game-high 15 rebounds.

Seven Panthers scored in double figures, including all five starters. Each Panther who played scored, grabbed at least one rebound and played at least 10 minutes.

Farr led the way with 17 points. Carlos Smith (Baltimore, Md./Forest Park HS) scored 14 points, while Wright and Karrell Goines (Baltimore, Md./Patterson HS) each poured in 13 points. Theo West (Philadelphia, Pa./Kensington HS) add 10 points to round out the starters.

Zafir Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Vaux HS) and Daron Jenkins (Baltimore, Md./Lake Clifton HS) also scored in double figures off the bench. Williams had 15 points and five assists and Jenkins had a career-high 11 points, five rebounds and five assists.

BCCC travels to North East, Md. on Saturday to take on Cecil College. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
