No. 1 Hagerstown Eliminates No. 4 BCCC From 2012 MD JUCO Tournament

FREDERICK, Md. – Raymar Watson scored a game-high 27 points to lead top-ranked Hagerstown Community College to a 100-78 win over No. 4 Baltimore City Community College in the semifinal round of the 2012 Maryland JUCO Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon at the Frederick Community College Cougar Dome. Hagerstown takes on No. 2 Cecil College at 3 p.m. tomorrow for the conference title.

Despite not winning the conference title, BCCC (19-10) has already qualified for the 2012 Region XX Tournament that will be held at Hagerstown CC from March 2-4.

Statistically, the game was pretty much even with the exception of a few key categories. Hagerstown (25-4) was 11-of-21 from 3-point range and had 12 steals and just 10 turnovers. The Panthers were 4-of-13 from outside the arc and they committed 15 turnovers that lead to 18 Hagerstown points. BCCC only had three steals.

Antonio Jenifer added 22 points for Hagerstown and Tione Womack had 16 points. Devin Miller also scored in double figures with 15 points.

Carlos Smith (Baltimore, Md./Forest Park HS) led BCCC with 21 points. Sean Farr (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) contributed 17 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Theodore West (Philadelphia, Pa./Kensington HS) and Donte Stuckey (Baltimore, Md./Walbrook HS) had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
