Panthers Run Past Harford CC in 99-75 Win

BALTIMORE, Md. – Warren Wright (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern HS) scored a team-high 21 points to lead five Baltimore City Community College men's basketball players in double-figure scoring as the Panthers defeated Harford Community College 99-75 on Tuesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.

BCCC (17-9, 11-5 MD JUCO) led for the entire game. The Panthers started the game on a 4-0 run after a bucket by Sean Farr (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) and a pair of free throws by Wright. They pushed the lead to 13, 51-38, just before halftime after Zafir Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Vaux HS) hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Panthers went on another run, this time 10-2, to take a 21-point lead (61-40) after a layup by Karrell Goines (Baltimore, Md./Patterson HS) with 17:17 left in the game.

Harford (8-18, 5-11 MD JUCO) could not get much closer and trailed by 26 after one of two free throws by Theodore West (Philadelphia, Pa./Kensington HS) with 56 seconds left in the game. A bucket by Carlos Brown ended the scoring for the game, bringing the final score to 99-75.

Ka-Ron Richardson led Harford with 21 points and he added 10 rebounds. Brown had a double-double of 16 points and 18 rebounds, while Dimitrious Jelen-Joy had 15 points and Tyler Campbell had 13 points and 11 boards.

Williams scored 17 points off the bench for BCCC and dished out a game-high nine assists. Farr and Carlos Smith (Baltimore, Md./Forest Park HS) each had 13 points. Farr grabbed seven rebounds and Smith had five rebounds, three blocks and three assists.

Goines added eight points and seven assists.

The Panthers are off until next Tuesday when they play in the first round of the MD JUCO Tournament. Seedings will be released on Sunday, Feb. 12.
