BCCC Falls 85-72 to Louisburg College; Panthers Finish 6th in the Nation

DANVILLE, Ill. – Joe Goodwin scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Louisburg College men's basketball team to an 85-72 win over Baltimore City Community College in the 5th-place game of the 2012 NJCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Tournament on the campus of Danville Area Community College. Louisburg (30-6) finishes in 5th place, while BCCC (25-12) earned a 6th-place finish.

Louisburg controlled the game early and took a 14-point lead, 50-36, into halftime. In the second half, the Hurricanes extended the lead to 19 (59-40) after a jumper by Rashod Chavis with 16:34 left in the game.

Louisburg maintained a double-digit lead until a layup by Zafir Williams (Philadelphia, Pa./Vaux HS) at the 3:40 mark cut the lead to eight, 75-67. The Panthers got as close as six (78-72) but could get no closer.

Antonio Robinson also scored in double figures for Louisburg with 13 points. He added six assists and four steals. Josh Hicks finished with 11 points, while Chavis added 10 points.

Williams dropped a game-high 22 points off the bench for the Panthers. Starter Sean Farr (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS)  had  20 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Christian Diboko (Kinshasa, Congo) was the only other starter to score in double figures. He scored a career-high 14 points and added eight rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
