All-Around Effort Leads BCCC Past CCBC-Essex 3-1

BALTIMORE, Md.Rachel Griffith (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) dished out a season-high 22 assists, while teammate Danielle Standley (Baltimore Md./Milford Mill Academy) had a season-best 4.5 blocks to help the Baltimore City Community College women's volleyball team to a 3-1 win over CCBC-Essex on Tuesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.
 
The Lady Panthers (3-10) won the match 27-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-23. Griffith added nine digs and one ace and Standley also had seven digs and five kills.
 
The Lady Panthers were focused in the first two sets, closing them out with close wins. They dropped the third set, but in the fourth and final set, the Lady Panthers kept their composure to record their fourth win of the season.
 
Kourtney Anderson (Baltimore, Md./City College) tallied a team-high nine kills and added four aces, three digs and one block assist. Jamira Wilson (Baltimore, Md./Southside Academy) recorded eight kills, six digs and six aces.
 
Defensively, Jaizmeine Ramirez (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn HS) and Rodchell Thompson (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn HS) both finished with a team-high 11 digs.
 
Next, the Lady Panthers travel to North East, Md. on Friday for a 6 p.m. match against Cecil College.
