BCCC Volleyball Team Goes 1-2 in Charm City Classic

Kourtney Anderson was named to the BCCC Charm City Classic All-Tournament Team.

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College women's volleyball team went 1-2 in the 2012 BCCC Charm City Classic and finished the tournament tied for third place. The Lady Panthers (2-6) fell 2-0 (25-22, 25-15) to Howard Community College, defeated CCBC-Catonsville 2-1 (15-25, 25-15, 15-10) and lost 2-0 (25-17, 25-19) to CCBC-Essex in the semifinal game.

Howard won the tournament after going 4-0 on the day.

For the day, Kourtney Anderson (Baltimore, Md./City College) tallied 16 kills, nine digs, six aces and one block assist. Jamira Wilson (Baltimore, Md./Southside Academy) had 10 kills, four aces and five digs.

Rachael Griffith (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) passed out a team-high 27 assists and added 10 digs and three aces, while Rodchelle Thompson (Baltimore, Md./Woodlawn HS) had eight digs, five assists, three kills and three aces. Danielle Standley (Baltimore, Md./Millford Mill) recorded two kills and a team-leading 5.5 blocks.

Anderson was named to the all-tournament team for BCCC. The rest of the all-tournament team included: Brittany Alleyne (Anne Arundel), Sarah Howard (CCBC-Catonsville), Victoria Johnson (Howard), Stephanie Kelly (Howard) and Cassidy Keller (CCBC-Essex). Taylor Franks of CCBC-Essex was named tournament MVP.

The Lady Panthers return to action on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. when they host Catonsville.
