MCHENRY, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team suffered its third straight loss as Garrett College posted an 86-83 on Saturday afternoon. The loss was the first in conference play for BCCC this season.
The Panthers (14-8, 10-1 MDJUCO) trailed at the break by two points, 44-42. The Panthers struggled from the field, shooting just 42 percent (32-of-76).
Even with one of their lowest shooting performances from the field, the Panthers kept it close and still had a chance to tie the game on two three-point attempts. The first attempt by Kendal Williams (Dover, Del./Dover HS) was blocked and as Justin Kuntz (Baltimore, Md./Polk College) gathered it in for a rebound, his attempt rimmed out as time expired.
Garrett had five players to score in double figures and was led by Antonio Butler's 22 points. He added four assists, four steals and three rebounds. Guila Panzo and Marquis Green combined for 30 points and 15 rebounds.
Din Moore had 11 points and Matthew Gibson finished the game with 10 points, four assists and three steals.
For the Panthers, Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Monroe College) had 24 points, six assists, six rebounds and three steals. Kuntz finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block and Will Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./Towson) contributed 11 points.Williams ended the game with 10 points and five assists.
The Panthers will return to the BCCCC P.E. Center on Saturday to host Montgomery College. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
