Panthers Remain Undefeated in Conference Play with 89-77 Win over Frederick

FREDERICK, Md.The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team defeated Frederick Community College 89-77 on Saturday night to improve to 12-5 overall and a perfect 8-0 in MD JUCO play. The loss dropped Frederick to 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

Frederick scored the first seven points of the game and held an early 10-point lead (14-4) with 15:15 left in the opening half. BCCC settled down and put together a 15-3 run to take their first lead of the game and they did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game.

The Panthers were explosive in the first 20 minutes of the game as they applied pressure on the Cougars' guards, forcing 13 turnovers and converting them into high flying dunks courtesy of Sean Farr (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) and Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Park HS).  The Panthers would go into the break with a 44-31 lead.

In the second half, BCCC extended its lead to 25, 60-35, after Farr connected from long range with 15:51 left in the game. Over the next 12 minutes Frederick made a valiant run, outscoring the Panthers 33-19, to get within 11, 79-68, on a De'Ron Wiseman jumper with 3:19 remaining.

However, BCCC would not let Frederick get any closer and held the Cougars to just nine points for the rest of the game.
Frederick's Tee Talley finished the game with 22 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks. Markee Mazyck had 19 points and four rebounds, while Wiseman ended with 17 points, five assists and four steals.

For BCCC, Kendal Williams (Dover, Del./Dover HS) lead the team with 25 points, four assists and two rebounds.  Farr posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards while adding four assists. Richards also dropped 14 points to go along with six rebounds, three steals, two assists and one block.

Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Monroe College) chipped in with 12 points, four boards, two assists and two steals off the bench and Justin Kuntz (Baltimore, Md./Glen Burnie HS) finished with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks.

BCCC will host Prince George's Community College on Monday at 7 p.m. at the BCCC P.E. Center.
