BCCC Defeated by College of Southern Maryland 3-0

LA PLATA, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College volleyball team was defeated on Thursday night by the College of Southern Maryland 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-15). The Lady Panthers are now 5-12, 2-4 MD JUCO for the season.

The Lady Panthers bounced back after losing in the first set, with a 16-12  lead before the Lady Hawks used a 8-2 run (18-20), to take control of the second set. The Lady Hawks would then use that momentum sprinting out to an 8-0 lead in the third and held on to win the match.

For the Lady Panthers, Jasmine Ashe (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) had a team-high eight kills along with three total blocks and Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./N. Hagerstown) finished with seven kills and four total blocks. Ashe set a single-season record with 47 solo blocks, the previous school record was held by Danielle Standley with 44 last season.

Taylor Squirewell (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic) led the team with 13 assists and shared the team-high eight digs with Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md./Carver Vo-Tech).

Rickiara Washington (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) and Danaira Duncan (Baltimore, Md./Coppin Academy) each had four digs. Washington also had three kills on the night.

Briana Miller (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) contributed with five digs for the match while Kheri Mobley (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic) ended with four total blocks.

The Lady Panthers return to the P.E. Center on Tuesday for a four-game home stand, as they host Montgomery College for a 6 p.m. match.
