BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team defeated Cecil College 78-68, on Tuesday night at the P.E. Center. With the win, the Panthers are now 4-3, 1-1 MDJUCO.
It was a see-saw battle for the first eight minutes of the game, as both teams exchanged leads of three. After a lay-up made by Cecil's Michael Vigilance, BCCC lead by one (16-15) before
Kavon Pyatt (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson HS) scored four straight points.
The Panthers would not trail for the rest of the game. At the half, BCCC took a 41-33 lead, going up by as many as 11 on a few occasions.
Cecil (0-7, 0-1 MDJUCO), came out in the second half on a 7-0 run, cutting the lead to one (41-40). BCCC responded by increasing the lead 45-40.
The second half was the same as the first half, with the Seahawks getting within a possession of taking a lead and the Panthers holding them off.
Cecil got within two points (52-50) with 12:10 remaining in the game, but BCCC used an 8-0 run to take a 10 point lead (60-50) and to secure the win.
The Seahawks leading scorer was Donte Adams with a game-high of 20 points.
For BCCC,
DaJuan Dent (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills HS) was very efficient shooting 7-of-8 from the field on the way to scoring 16 points off the bench to go along with four rebounds and two blocks.
Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Parks HS) scored 13 points and gathered eight boards and
Terry Harris (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood HS) had a solid game with nine points, seven rebounds and four steals.
Pyatt ended the game with a double-double recording 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Panthers return from the break for a home game against Anne Arundel CC on December 4
th at 7:30 p.m.
