BCCC Falls 94-77 in Opener to CCBC-Dundalk

BALTIMORE, Md.
– The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team loss to CCBC-Dundalk 94-77, on Tuesday night at the P.E. Center. 
 
The Panthers (0-1, 0-1 MDJUCO) got off to a good start in their season-opener against the Lions. John Majors (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo HS) scored the first points of the season. The first nine minutes was a tight battle as both teams tried to break away from each other. Dundalk (2-0, 1-0 MDJUCO) took a seven point lead (21-14), with 9:23 in the first half. 
 
After a lay-up by Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Parks HS), the Panthers took a one-point lead (29-28) with 6:32 in the opening half. It was the last lead the Panthers had in the game, as the Lions finished the half on a 21-3 run taking a 49-32 lead heading into halftime.
 
The start of the second half started with BCCC not making a field goal for the first five and a half minutes, scoring their first three points as Cortell Henson (Baltimore, Md./Lake Clifton HS) went 3-of-4 from the free-throw line.
 
BCCC trailed by 31 points (92-61) with 3:33 remaining in the game before they put together a 16-2 run to end the game.
 
For the Lions, Jordan Myers scored a game-high 20 points going 4-of-4 from behind the arc with seven boards. James Brogdon ended the game with a double-double 14 points and 11 rebounds and Akil Charles finished with 11 points and four assists. 
 
The Panthers were led by Terry Harris (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood HS)off the bench with a double-double 16 points and 11 rebounds. Brelin Elliott (Hughesville, Md./Thomas Stone HS) finished 12 points and five boards.
 
DaJuan Dent (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills HS)tallied eight points, six rebounds, three blocks, three steals and two assists. Brian Kelley (Lanham, Md./Atlantic Shores HS) had six points, four steals, three assists, two boards and two blocks.
 
Richards and Majors recorded nine points apiece, along with seven rebounds and two rebounds respectively.
 
The Panthers will host the Baltimore City Legends Classic next weekend where their next opponent will be the pre-season #20 ranked team in the nation, ASA on Friday at 7 p.m.
 
General admissions will be $5.00, for BCPS $2.00 and free admissions for faculty and students with a valid college I.D.
