Richards Leads BCCC in Win over Anne Arundel 88-80

BALTIMORE, Md.Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Park HS) scored 16 of his 23 points in the second half, to lead the Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team to victory over Anne Arundel Community College 88-80, on Wednesday night at the P.E. Center. The Panthers have now won three-straight conference games as their record improves to 5-3, 3-1 MDJUCO.
 
BCCC scored the first six points of the game before Anne Arundel CC went on a 9-0 run of their own to take a 9-6 lead. BCCC trailed from that point on for the remainder of the half.
 
Anne Arundel (7-3, 0-2 MDJUCO) led by as many as 11 (35-24), in the first half with 4:54 remaining. BCCC cut the lead to six (43-37), going into the break at halftime.
 
The Panthers came out in the second half using an 8-2 run to tie the game at 45 apiece with 16:10 left in the game. The next 6:00 of the game the Pioneers regained the lead to keep the Panthers at bay.
 
Kavon Pyatt (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson HS) scored five straight points to tie the game at 62 all with 9:57 left to go in the game. The Panthers went on a 9-3 run (71-65), to regain the lead and did not relinquish the lead from that point on.
 
The Panthers outscored the Pioneers in the second half 51-37 in route to securing the victory.
 
The Pioneers had four players in double figures, Ryan Hawkins had a game-high 27 points and Garrett Snoops scored 14 points. Tyler Washington ended the game with 12 points, nine rebounds, and four assists and Kevin Davis finished with 12 points and five rebounds.
 
For BCCC, Terry Harris (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood HS) finished with 15 points and eight boards.
 
John Majors (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo HS) contributed with 11 points and seven rebounds off the bench and Brian Kelley (Lanham, Md./Atlantic Shores HS) scored 10 points with five assists and four boards.  
 
Pyatt scored a season-high 19 points to go alongside four rebounds, four assists, and two steals and Richards also had nine rebounds, seven assists, two steals and one block.

The Panthers will travel to Frederick, Md. for the Roy Rogers Classic on Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th. The participating teams are:  host team Frederick CC, Harcum College, and Monroe College.
