BALTIMORE, Md. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team defeated the College of Southern Maryland 85-74 on Tuesday night at the BCCC P.E. Center.
Sean Farr (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar HS) led the Panther effort with 17 points and added eight rebounds.
BCCC improved to 20-9 on the season in its final tune up before Friday's 6 p.m. game against Harford Community College in the Region XX Tournament in Hagerstown, Md.
CSM (9-19) scored the first basket on a jump shot by Devon Brown at the 19:21 mark, but the Panthers went on a 12-4 run to take the lead for good. CSM kept things close throughout the entire first half and were down by four, 39-35, at halftime.
In the second half, the Panthers quickly extended the lead to 15, 52-37, after a layup by
Mike Wilson (Philadelphia, Pa./Monroe College) with 16:21 left in the game. They pushed the lead to 21 (83-62) after the second of back-to-back 3-pointers by Wilson at the 4:58 mark.
CSM went on a 12-3 run in the last 4:16 to cut the lead down to 11, but the rally came too late and BCCC recorded its third consecutive 20-win season.
The Hawks were lead in scoring by Juwan Cole with 22 points. Brown, Quinton Dodson and Isaac Fulwood all had 12 points apiece and Troy Cummings finished with 10 points.
Wilson finished with 15 points, four rebounds and four assists.
Justin Kuntz (Baltimore, Md./Polk College) posted a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds and added four steals and three blocks.
Kendal Williams (Dover, Del./Dover HS) ended the game with a double-double of 14 points and 10 assists.
Will Adams (Philadelphia, Pa./Towson) scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds.
