– The Howard Community College volleyball team defeated Baltimore City Community College 3-1 (24-26, 25-9, 25-10, 25-21) on Wednesday night at the HCC Athletic and Fitness Center.

The Lady Panthers (1-5) came out strong in the first set and grabbed the momentum early, but in the second and third sets, the Lady Dragons regained their composure. In the deciding set, the Lady Panthers showed signs of life as they fought hard throughout and held a 21-20 lead until the Lady Dragons scored the last five points to win the match.

Rickiara Washington (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) and Jasmine Ashe (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) finished the game with a team-high seven kills. Washington also had nine digs and one block and Ashe tallied two aces, three digs and three total blocks.

Taylor Squirewell (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic) chipped in with six assists, five digs and one ace, while Tiffany White (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) contributed five assists, three digs, two kills and one block assist.

Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) had a team-high 10 digs. Kheri Mobley (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic) finished with five digs, two aces, two blocks and one kill.

On Saturday, the Lady Panthers will host the 3rd annual Charm City Classic which will include Anne Arundel CC, CCBC-Catonsville, CCBC-Essex, Frederick Community College and Howard Community College. The first match will be the Lady Panthers against Anne Arundel CC at 10 a.m.  

BCCC staff and students will be admitted free with a BCCC ID. General admission is $4 but fans wearing pink will be admitted at the discounted rate of $3.
