CCBC-Essex Wins 2013 Dig Pink ® Tournament; BCCC Finishes in 2nd Place

– CCBC-Essex won the 2013 Baltimore City Community College Dig Pink ® Charm City Volleyball Tournament with a 2-1(18-25, 25-20, 15-13) win over the Lady Panthers on Saturday at the P.E. Center.

BCCC (3-7) went 2-2 on the day, defeating Anne Arundel Community College 2-0 (25-12, 25-13) in the opening game, losing 2-0 to Frederick Community College (21-25, 17-25) and beating Howard Community College 2-1 (14-25, 25-14, 15-13) to advance to the championship game.

CCBC-Catonsville finished in third place with a win over Anne Arundel Community College in the consolation game.

For the day, Tiffany White (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) had a team-high 24 kills alongside 17 assists and 15 digs and Iman Scott (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) finished with 15 kills, nine digs, six aces, six total blocks and five assists.

Rickiara Washington (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor) had a team-high 16 digs and 12 aces while adding six kills and five assists. Jasmine Ashe (Baltimore, Md./Western HS) tallied 14 kills, six total blocks, five digs and four aces.  

Taylor Squirewell (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic) finished with a team-high 20 assists and recorded 10 digs, Kheri Mobley (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic) amassed 13 digs and a team-high eight total blocks. Breiona Garrison (Baltimore, Md./Carver Vo-Tech) contributed with six kills.

White was named to the all-tournament team for BCCC. The other all-tournament team members were Taylor Younger (Anne Arundel), Kelsey Wolinski (CCBC-Catonsville), Samantha Kirschner (Frederick), Paige Morgan (Howard) and Stephanie Kelly (Howard).

Cassidy Keller of CCBC-Essex was named tournament MVP.

The Lady Panthers host Northern Virginia Community College on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
