COLUMBIA, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team was defeated by Howard Community College 83-66 on Saturday evening at the Athletic and Fitness Center. The Panthers are currently on a three-game losing streak, however they are tied for second in the conference.
Their record stands at 7-9, 4-2 MD JUCO.
BCCC took a four point lead (8-4) with 17:05 in the first half on a
Brelin Elliott (Hughesville, Md./Thomas Stone HS) put back. Kayode Ajenifuja scored five straight points as part of an 11-0 run by Howard CC (12-4).
BCCC trailed at 39-31 at the half.
In the second half the Panthers came out aggressive and took another four point lead (43-39) with 15:49, but again the Dragons put together a 13-0 run to regain the lead and did not trail for the remainder of the game.
Howard was led in scoring by Omari Rinngold who had a game-high 22 points. Jeff James scored 13 points and had eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Julian Davis ended with 11 points and Ajenifuja had 12 points and five rebounds.
For BCCC,
Terry Harris (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood HS) had 11 points and seven boards and
Brian Kelley (Lanham, Md./Atlantic Shores HS) contributed with 11 points, four assists, four rebounds and two steals.
Elliot finished the game with seven points and six boards.
The men return home to face College of Southern Maryland Wednesday January 15
th, for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
