Panthers Lose to Hawks 80-72

BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team was defeated 80-72 on Wednesday night at the P.E. Center. BCCC are now 7-10, 4-3 MD JUCO.
 
BCCC trailed early in the opening half because of turnovers (13) and College of Southern Maryland was able to use that to lead by as many as 17 points.
 
CSM (14-4) took a 38-24 lead going into the half.
 
In the second half the Panthers trailed by 19 at one point before cutting the lead to single digits for the majority of the game. With 4:50 left to play in the game, the Panthers were down four (64-60).
 
The Hawks went on a 7-0 run to increase the lead to 11 and that ended up being too much for the Panthers to overcome with time playing a factor as well.
 
CSM's Juwan Cole had a game-high 24 points and added eight rebounds and Jaylen Scayles finished with 15 points and seven boards.
 
Steven Cole and LeAndre Eackles both scored 14 points.   
 
For BCCC, Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I/Gwynn Park HS) scored 21 points and had seven rebounds and John Majors (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo HS) had 16 points and five rebounds.
 
Kavon Pyatt (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson HS) chipped in with 10 points and six boards off the bench and Terry Harris (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood HS) had a game-high nine rebounds to alongside eight points and three steals.  
 
The men travel to Hagerstown, Md. to play Hagerstown Community College on Saturday, January 18th at 8 p.m.
