Panthers Go 1-1 over the Weekend

Baltimore, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team ended their four-game losing streak with a 69-68 victory over Hagerstown Community College on Saturday night and returned home on Monday night and fell in the waning seconds against St. Mary's JV 73-74 in the P.E. Center.
 
On Saturday night, the Panthers fought hard the whole game as they held on to a close victory. 
 
For the Hawks, Jahlen Greene posted a double-double with a game-high 28 points and 15 rebounds. Stephen Christy also recorded a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.
 
Victor Blakey finished the game with 18 points.
 
For BCCC, Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Park HS) scored 21 points and had six rebounds and Brelin Elliott (Hughesville, Md./Thomas Stone HS) had 12 points.
 
Kavon Pyatt (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson HS) and John Majors (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo HS) both chipped in with 11 points.
 
On Monday night, the Panthers came out with energy and enthusiasm as they forced 14 turnovers.
 
BCCC lead 42-35 at the half.
 
In the second half, the Panthers took a commanding 57-35 lead with 16:52 remaining in the game. From that point on, St. Mary's outscored the Panthers 39-16 to steal a last victory.
 
St. Mary's was led in scoring by Kevin Boyd with a game-high 20 points and Avery Wilmore had 14 points.
 
Avery Filer finished with 11 points and Lee Jordan had a double-double with 14 rebounds and 10 points.
 
Ryan Grant had a game-high eight assists.
 
The Panthers' leading scorer was Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Park HS) with 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. 
 
Brelin Elliott (Hughesville, Md./Thomas Stone HS)and John Majors (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo HS) scored 12 points apiece.
 
DaJuan Dent (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills HS) ended the game with 10 points

The men will be in action against Harford Community College on Wednesday January 22nd, for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
