Frederick, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team defeated Frederick Community College 78-68 on Saturday night in the Cougar Dome. BCCC is now 7-3 in the conference.
The Panthers led for majority of the first half as they shot 15-of-25 (60%) from the field and forced 17 turnovers.
BCCC led at the half 35-28.
In the second half, the Cougars battled back to take a five point lead (61-56) with 7:41 remaining in the game. The Panthers went on a 9-4 run to tie the game up at 65 as
Kavon Pyatt (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson HS) hit three free-throws when he was fouled on a three-point attempt.
The Panthers finished the game on a 13-3 run to win their third conference game in a row.
The Cougars were led in scoring by Ben Welty with 20 points, six assists and five rebounds and Luke Welty who posted a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Paris Jones chipped in with 13 points off the bench.

Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Park HS) had a game-high 21 points and
DaJuan Dent (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills HS) posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds while adding four steals.
John Majors (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo HS) contributed with 14 points.
The men will be in action at home against Montgomery College on Wednesday January 29
th, for a 7:30 p.m. game.
