Panthers Drop Their First Conference Game of the Season to Dragons 60-54

BALTIMORE, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team was defeated on Saturday afternoon Howard Community College 60-54 in the P.E. Center.  BCCC record Is now 4-4, 2-1 MDJUCO.
                                                                                                                                               
Both teams jostled for control of the game early on. In the first 14:00 minutes of the game the score was tied three times the last tie came at 6:14 with score 20-20. The Panthers took a five point lead (25-20) after Tre' Thomas (Bowie, Md./Riverdale Baptist HS) split a pair of free-throws with 3:42 before finally trailing 28-25 at the half.
 
In the second half, the teams went back and forth making runs and gaining momentum then losing it only to regain it again. As it was in the first half the score was tied four times.
 
Trailing 54-51 with 1:38 remaining Brian Kelley (Lanham, Md./Atlantic Shores) converted a huge three-point play to tie the game at 54 apiece. Unfortunately, that was the last points the Panthers would score as they ended the game on the short end of a 6-0 run by the Dragons.
 
The Dragons had three players in double figures: Austin Nwosu recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, Ian Vasquez and Brandon Roberson had 12 and 10 points respectively.
 
For BCCC, Keon Press (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City HS) scored 13 points and had five rebounds and Thomas finished with 13 points and six rebounds.
 
John Majors (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo HS) had a game-high 13 rebounds and DaJuan Dent (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills HS) ended the game with 11 boards and eight points.
 
The Panthers be on the road for their next game which will be on Tuesday, December 2nd against Harford Community College in Bel Air, Md. in the APGFCU Arena at 7 p.m.
