Box Score COLUMBIA, Md. - The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team wins season opener against Howard Community College 77-55 on Tuesday night at the HCC Athletic and Fitness Center.
In the first half the game was tight for the first 14:00 with both teams jostling for control of the game. The Panthers eventually took a seven point lead, (20-13) with 6:20 to play before the half.
The Dragons cut the lead to two before the half as the Panthers went into halftime up 31-29.
In the second half with the lead tied at 44 with 13:54 remaining, the Panthers used a 16-2 run to break things open over the next six minutes. The Panthers held the Dragons to nine points for the remainder of the game to run away with the win.
The Dragons were led in scoring by Willie Kee and Aaron Brown with 11 points while adding five and three steals respectively. Austin Nwosu had a team-high 11 rebounds.
For the Panthers,
Terry Harris (Baltimore, Md./Kenwood HS) posted a double-double with 21 points and 14 rebounds off the bench and
Brian Kelley (Lanham, Md./Atlantic Shores HS) scored 12 and grabbed six boards.
John Majors (Upper Marlboro, Md./Largo HS)
DaJuan Dent (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills HS) and
Ronald Epps (Baltimore, Md./Digital Harbor HS) all scored nine points while grabbing five, six and six rebounds respectively.
Keaton Mack (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) finished with eight points, five assists and four boards.
The Panthers will be in action over the weekend as they travel to New York to play Monroe College and College of Central Florida. Saturday's game will start at 7 p.m. and the tip-off for Sunday's game is slated for 1 p.m.
