Box Score CUMBERLAND, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team defeated Allegany College of Maryland 81-71 on Wednesday night at the Bob Kirk Arena.
The Panthers fell behind 7-2 before taking an 11-7 lead and would not trail for the rest of the game.
The Panthers led by eight at the break 37-29.
BCCC led by as many as 17 points in the second half and the lead was insurmountable for Allegany to overcome.
For Allegany, Billy Giles posted a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Nyles Roberson had 13 points and seven rebounds, Davion Tapscott scored 11 points and David DeLeon scored 10 points.
For BCCC, freshmen guard
Wilmer Johnson (New Castle, Del./William Penn HS) scored a career-high 28 points off the bench.
DaJuan Dent (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills HS) had 10 boards, eight points and four blocks and
Chas Brown (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic HS) ended the game with 11 rebounds and nine points.
Brian Kelley (Lanham, Md./Atlantic Shores) finished with 23 points.
The Panthers will be hosting the Ben Williams Classic on Saturday and Sunday, December 13
th and 14
th at the P.E. Center. The participating teams will be Cape Fear Community College, Chesapeake College and Globe Institute of Technology.
General admissions for the tournament will be $8.00, for BCPS $2.00 and free admissions for faculty and students with a valid college I.D.
