Panthers Winning Streak is halted by the Owls 86-81

Largo, MD. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team fell to Prince George's Community College 86-81 on Friday night. BCCC headed into the game winning four straight conference games prior to the loss.
 
The Panthers are now 8-4 in the MD JUCO.
 
BCCC made it a thrilling ending as they trailed by three (84-81), after a three-pointer by Keon Press (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore City College) with 13 seconds left in the game. BCCC was given more life as Prince George's JaSahn Johnson missed both free-throw attempts.
 
With a chance for the final shot to send the game into overtime, the Panthers were called for a turnover with 4 seconds. Che'Von Giles made two free-throws to put the game out of reach.
 
BCCC fell behind early due to 11 turnovers and 10-of-38 shooting (26%) from the field. Prince George's led by 19 late in the first half.
 
The Panthers trailed at the half 47-31 going into the half.
 
BCCC outscored Prince George's 50-39 in the second half, but crucial misses from the free-throw line and costly turnovers stalled their comeback.
 
The Owls were led in scoring by Johnson with 19 to go along with nine rebounds. Gabriel McCray posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 boards.
 
Donell Diggs scored 14 points and Robert Tyler II had 10 points off the bench.
 
Giles finished the game with 12 points.
 
For the Panthers, Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Park HS) recorded a double-double and with a career-high29 points and a team-high 10 rebounds.
 
DaJuan Dent (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills HS) scored 12 points and Keaton Mack (Odenton, Md./Arundel HS) chipped in with 10 points.
 
Press finished the game with 11 points.
 
The men will play their last home game of the regular-season on Tuesday night, February 4th against Garett College at 7:30 p.m.
It will also be Sophomore Night for the men's team where Pyatt and Richards will be honored prior to the tip-off of the men's game.
 
General admission is $5.00, $2.00 for BCPS and free admissions for faculty, staff and students with a valid school I.D.
