BCCC falls to the Westchester 82-70 in the District Championship

Xavier Richards recorded his fifth double-double of the season.

VAHALLA, N.Y. – The Baltimore City Community College men's basketball team fell to Westchester Community College 82-70 on Saturday in the District Finals.
 
The Panthers came out strong in front of a very raucous crowd leading by six (10-4) early in the game. The Panthers last lead came at 12:27 mark with by one, 12-11 before the Vikings took hold of the lead and never trailed for the rest of the game.
 
BCCC trailed at the half 35-31.
 
In the second half there was one last tie in the game at 37 apiece with 17:49 remaining in the game. The Panthers made runs to cut the deficit, but the Vikings increased the lead each time and held on for the victory.   
 
The Vikings were led by Keith Thomas who had a game-high 28 points and 17 rebounds. Giovanni McLean ended the game with 21 points, eight assists and five steals and Luis Montero scored 19 points.
 
For the Panthers, Xavier Richards (St. Thomas, U.S.V.I./Gwynn Park HS) had a double-double with 27 points and 10 rebounds and Kavon Pyatt (Baltimore, Md./Edmondson HS) finished with 15 points and nine boards.
